Meet the 2021 Grant Recipient Finalists!

The Impact100 Oakland County Annual Grant Awards Ceremony is quickly approaching! On October 27th, this year’s final five nonprofit organizations will give a short presentation and then the full membership will vote. The three nonprofits with the most votes will be awarded $91,000 each at the event. These grants are what we are all about – making a significant impact in our community! On October 5th, Impact100 Oakland County hosted a Meet the Finalists event. If you were unable to make it, check out the summaries and videos below for each finalist:

Eton Academy
Eaton Academy is committed to the education of students who learn differently. We build essential skills and confidence that foster lifelong success. The Post-Pandemic Learning Recovery Initiative is a specialized, no cost, after school tutoring program provided in local area libraries. It is designed to support the academic, social, and emotional growth and achievement of Oakland County students who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic but cannot afford specialized tutoring.

HOPE Hospitality & Warming Center, Inc.
HOPE Hospitality & Warming Cetner, Inc. provides safe and judgment-free shelter, innovative programs, and public advocacy to end homelessness. HOPE’s Peer Advocate initiative would provide a new career opportunity to individuals with lived homeless experience. The Peer Advocate would use their expertise to provide reassurance and encouragement to someone needing shelter, make new guests feel welcome, and be an important bridge between guests and staff.

HAVEN
Haven’s mission is to empower survivors to heal, and engage all individuals and communities to address and prevent sexual assault and intimate partner violence. HAVEN’s Transportation Advocate for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault project will address the long-standing need for survivor transportation by purchasing an 11-person passenger van and hiring a part-time Transportation Advocate to transport clients to critical appointments necessary for them to achieve independence.

Rebuilding Together Southeast Michigan
Rebuilding Together Southeast Michigan’s mission is Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities and Rebuilding Lives. The Healthy Homes for Pontiac project will repair roofs and gutters, replace galvanized plumbing with PEX plumbing, and install new hot water tanks in Pontiac homes. The physical intervention will increase the health of homes and minimize health risks to families.

InsideOut Literary Arts
InsideOut Literary Arts inspires students to think broadly, create bravely and share their voices with the world. InsideOut leverages writing to connect youth to their own resilience while increasing reading and writing skills. Oak Park Writes will spotlight youth voices and creativity through in-school and after-school writing programs, book clubs, field trips, and author visits. Students in every school will become published authors and will share their writing with the Oakland County community through performances and publications.
