Understanding the Reality of Human Trafficking – Modern Day Slavery

January is the state of Michigan’s Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Impact100 Oakland County members and guests are invited to attend this informational session given by Lieutenant Wendy Reyes.
Lt. Reyes has been in law enforcement for the past 32 years. She has worked on the Jurisdictions of Excellence Team in Lansing, creating training modules for law enforcement on “Trauma-Informed Response to Sexual Assault” and is on a state-wide policy-making group for responding to sexual assault. Lt. Reyes has been a member of the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force for 13 years. She has worked with groups to combat domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Lt. Reyes will help participants understand the following: sex and labor trafficking, how to identify victims, dispelling myths and underlying trauma and its impact on victims and society. Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard will stop by the event.
