Making Affordable Prescriptions a Reality: Impact100 Grant Success Story
At World Medical Relief (WMR), our mission is simple but critical: ensuring that no one has to forgo necessary medications due to financial constraints. Thanks to the generous support from Impact100 Oakland County, we have been able to take significant strides in achieving this goal through our Oakland County Affordable Prescriptions (APP) program.
Transforming Lives Through Affordable Medication
Since receiving the Impact100 grant, we have successfully used the funds to fill 657 prescriptions for residents in Oakland County. These prescriptions have provided life-changing support for individuals who otherwise may not have been able to afford their medication. But we didn’t stop there—our initiative also focused on education and awareness.
We have distributed over 1,000 brochures and 500 flyers with vital information to help individuals improve their health and well-being. By combining affordable medication with health education, we are working to increase the overall health, wealth, and prosperity of the Oakland County community.
Expanding Our Reach and Building Lasting Relationships
One of the most remarkable outcomes of this initiative has been our ability to connect with individuals who were previously unaware of our services. The grant has allowed us to expand our reach, ensuring that more residents in need can benefit from our programs. Even as this grant cycle comes to a close, WMR remains committed to sustaining these new relationships and continuing to serve our expanded clientele through additional funding sources.

We have already secured additional funding from organizations such as United Way, the City of Detroit (Federal Funds), and various foundations. Additionally, we have pending grant applications in the final review stages. Our approach is simple: the larger our budget, the more prescriptions we can provide to those in need.

The Impact100 Oakland County grant has had a profound impact on both WMR and the clients we serve. With this funding, we have been able to reach new individuals, provide essential medications at a flat rate of $8.30 per prescription, and educate the community about their health options.
