Meet a Member – Tina Collins

Meet Tina Collins!

How long have you been a member? Six years. Since the beginning of the Oakland County chapter.

What inspired you to join the organization? I was inspired to join Impact100 because of the unimaginable connectivity that brought all of these very special women together. At the point of conception of Impact100 Oakland county it was absolutely electric. Women sharing a common goal of giving. Giving their hearts, time, & efforts in dedication to this idea of bettering the lives of others was such a feel good moment for me. I am so honored to be a part of this fabulous group of women coming together for the greater good. It makes me happy in my soul that I know we are making a forceful, positive impact.

How has your membership impacted your life? The membership has impacted my life in so many ways. When my husband and I first moved here from Chicago, I have honestly never felt so welcomed in a new place. The group of women I met at Impact100 made me instantly feel loved and supported. As a new mom with no family in this state that really felt nice. I knew this was the exact team I wanted to be a part of.

What is your favorite Impact100 memory? My very favorite Impact100 memory would have to be hands down packing lunches for eight hundred plus elementary school children from schools in Pontiac. Working with Variety Children’s Charity each week it would seem I would have more momentum to help pack these lunches for these children that as one police officer that was helping felicitate all these bags of food to these kids every Friday on their way home for the weekend told me that most of these kids, and their families, of sometimes five or more would only have what we packed to sustain them until they got back to school Monday. As each week passed I started to visualize these families splitting these very few items of food for an entire weekend and it occurred to me that I have never been starving and the thought of children starving lit a fire under me that has not gone out. A handful of Impact100 volunteers and police officers working with true intention, tired or not, to get the job done when others depended on it. I will cherish that hopeful memory forever.

What would you tell someone who is considering joining Impact100 Oakland County? I would tell someone who was interested in becoming a member of Impact100 Oakland county that this will be the best money you have ever spent. You will make new friends, expand your heart and mind talking with like minded women, and get to be involved in creating a positive environment in our community where we all live.

Tell us a little bit more about YOU! I am the mom of two, the wife of one, and a dog mom forever.  I love art, music, food/wine, and laughing with my friends and family. Nothing feels better to me than giving.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Tina, and for your many contributions to our organization!
